About Zen Dog

Hi...my name is Emma and I am the creator and owner of Zen Dog.

Prior to training as a groomer in 2017 I worked within the pet services industry as a dog walker for two years, but, as a huge animal lover, I have a lifetime's experience of owning and caring for dogs.

I am truly passionate about what I do and my priority in creating Zen Dog was to create a calm and stress free environment in which to groom dogs, making the whole experience as enjoyable and relaxing as possible for each and every dog. With a background in psychology and alternative therapy, I believe in a holistic approach to grooming and in creating a therapeutic experience for every dog. As a qualified Level II Reiki practitioner I offer Reiki, a form of hands on healing, which is incredibly calming when used, and I also use TTouch techniques throughout the grooming process to ensure your dog remains as calm and content as possible.

The service I offer is completely one-to-one so that your dog receives undivided attention at all times...there are no barking dogs in the background nor any need to wait around in a crate, which is often the case at a busy salon. The Zen Dog environment is stress-free and calming and has been geared towards creating a lovely experience for your dog. There is even relaxing music playing in the background during all grooms, to add to the whole zen experience, and a diffuser releasing a calming blend of Pet Remedy essential oils into the air. Subdued blue/green lighting is also used for some of our more anxious doggy visitors whilst they are being bathed and dried, aimed at reducing their stress levels.

I am fully qualified, with a Level 3 Dog Grooming Diploma and City & Guilds qualification, as well as an accredited Canine First Aid qualification.

I am also a full member of the British Dog Groomer's Association, which is a division of the Pet Industry Federation (PIF), the largest UK trade association for pet businesses. As a member, I am governed by the standards and regulations as laid out by PIF and I have a duty of care to your dog throughout its time with me, abiding by the 5 animal needs, as set out in the Animal Welfare Act, at all times.

Rest assured, your dog's welfare and wellbeing is my number one priority throughout the entire grooming process....my aim is to make it as calming and relaxing for your dog as possible.
